ANU: Strong Condemnation of Attacks on Civilians and Warning Against Renewed War!!

Agaezi National Union (ANU)

Statement Condemning Drone Attacks on Civilians

The Agaezi National Union (ANU) strongly and unequivocally condemns the reported drone attacks that have caused death and injury among civilians, including members of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo community.

Civilians, children, families, clergy, and places of worship must never be treated as military targets. No political objective can justify the deliberate or reckless killing of innocent people.

This continuous bombardment that is killing innocent people is being carried out by the Adwa pagan group, the MLLT TPLF, who are entrenched in Mekelle and Addis Ababa.

Attacking innocent people only serves the Adwa MLLT TPLF genocidal regime. It is a fundamental loss for all against the MLLT TPLF Adwa gangs and demociders. It has absolutely no political benefit. The  Adwa gang demociders within TPLF want to say that the people have been attacked so that they can play political games and mobilize the people to stand on their side.

Attacks against civilians must be condemned. Our people, who have been suffering and dying at the hands of the demons of the Adwa MLLT TPLF, should be liberated from this genocidal regime, not subjected to another form of suffering. Enough! Why is action not being taken through a sustained and planned approach, with clearly identified targets and appropriate measures? These people should not be beaten with two sticks. We say enough is enough!

We have to bear in mind that the main objective of the Adwa MLLT  TPLF regime is to destroy our Ge’ez-speaking people and to create another so-called Kush empire!! This is why MLLT TPLF Adwa genociders have systematically aligned with Sheabia and PP Galla genociders, leaving our people in a deep overall crisis.

The Adwa MLLT TPLF regime:

Before the attack: “Today is not like before. In Tigray, you cannot simply fly drones and drop bombs wherever you want. We are equipped with anti-drone systems. Our people should not be afraid.”

After the attack began: “People, exercise extreme caution.”

How can civilians possibly protect themselves from drone attacks?

Look at it carefully, just like the massacre of Hawzen. Why do the Adwa MLLT TPLF  position the weapons close to civilians? Have they run out of open land, or is it, as usual, intended to create dirty political games by saying, “The drone has attacked civilians,” and thereby mobilize the people to stand behind them?

As the Agaezi National Union (ANU), We have said many times that attacking civilians, playing political games with their deaths, and mobilizing the people through their suffering is the dirty politics of the Adwa MLLT TPLF practice since its inception. Yet it is still continuing.

In Mekelle, the Adwa MLLT TPLF  who are entrenched with Shaebia [Eritrea] boast that they have anti-drone systems. In Addis Ababa, the Adwa MLLT TPLF who are entrenched with the Gala genociders are killing the Habesha Agaezi Orthodox Tewahido people with drones. This is the politics of the Adwa MLLT TPLF.

Their main objective is the extermination of the Ge’ez-speaking Orthodox Tewahido people within Ethiopia and beyond. Wake up, our people. Expose these Adwa MLLT TPLF genociders wherever they are. Secure your survival by defending yourself.

Among the children injured in the bombardment carried out by the Adwa MLLT TPLF, on this day, 20.08.2026, there are four siblings from one family:

  • Yonatan Hadush — 3 years old
  • Temesgen Hadush — 6 years old
  • Soliana Hadush — 11 years old
  • Medhanit Hadush — 13 years old

In addition, the parents of these children—their mother, father, and grandmother—were also injured. In total, seven Orthodox Tewahdo people from one family were injured. This is called blatant genocide.

Last but not least, the Agaezi National Union (ANU) is deeply concerned by reports of continued attacks against innocent civilians, including members of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo community, in Tigray, Amhara, Gurage, Arsi, Wollega and Addis Ababa.

ANU condemns any government, political organization, or armed actor responsible for attacks against civilians. No ethnic, religious, or political identity can justify violence against innocent people.

We are particularly concerned that continued attacks and the destruction of civilian lives, cultural heritage and religious institutions threaten the historical, cultural and religious heritage of Ethiopia and the wider Agaezi civilization.

ANU rejects any political project that seeks to erase, marginalize or rewrite the history and cultural identity of any Ethiopian community. At the same time, we reject collective blame: the responsibility for crimes belongs to those who plan, order, facilitate, or commit them—not to an entire ethnic or religious population.

We call for:

  • An immediate end to attacks against civilians.
  • Independent investigations into reported drone strikes and other attacks.
  • Protection of Orthodox Tewahedo churches, monasteries, clergy and cultural heritage.
  • Accountability for individuals responsible for violations of international humanitarian and human-rights law.
  • International monitoring and urgent humanitarian assistance to affected communities.

The lives of civilians and the preservation of Ethiopia’s diverse historical heritage must never be sacrificed for political power.

On the Risk of Renewed War and the “Tsumdo” Narrative

ANU is deeply concerned by the increasingly confrontational rhetoric surrounding Tigray. The position attributed to the TPLF leadership that it cannot exist without war, together with attestations that the Debretsion Gebremichael group has concealed weapons reportedly obtained from Shaebia/Eritrea in populated areas, must be taken seriously and independently investigated. Public statements attributed to members of the group about creating a “Tsumdo” and removing the Ethiopian government by force, if accurately reported, represent a dangerous escalation and should be unequivocally condemned. ANU believes that the Ethiopian government’s restraint toward the people of Tigray should not be interpreted as weakness or fear, and we urge all parties not to mistake patience for surrender. Once war begins, there is no meaningful way to undo the suffering that follows: people die, cities are destroyed, families are displaced, and an already traumatized population may face an even greater catastrophe than the previous war. War has no winners.

ANU is equally concerned by the prolonged political narrative surrounding “Tsumdo”, including public commentary and predictions of an imminent regional war. We reject political theatre that prepares civilians psychologically for renewed conflict while their lives remain at risk. The reported drone attack in Mekelle is therefore deeply troubling, and any attack that harms civilians must be condemned regardless of who is responsible. Claims concerning Ethiopian, Eritrean, or TPLF military activity must be independently verified rather than used as propaganda. If the reports are accurate that Eritrea has prioritized its own security interests rather than the protection of Tigrayan civilians, that reality should be acknowledged; likewise, if the TPLF leadership is prioritizing the survival of its political organization over the security of the people of Tigray, that must also be scrutinized. The people of Tigray must never again be used as instruments in a struggle for political or military power.

ANU therefore calls on the Ethiopian government, the TPLF leadership, Eritrea, and all other actors to step back from military escalation and pursue a political solution. The Pretoria Agreement must not be replaced by another war. The people of Tigray have suffered enough. No political organization has the right to gamble with the lives of civilians, and no government has the right to treat civilian casualties as acceptable collateral damage.

Peace must prevail over political theatre. Civilian life must prevail over military ambition. Ethiopia must not be dragged into another devastating war.

ANU calls for an immediate cessation of attacks against civilian areas, full protection of civilians, and an independent and credible investigation to establish responsibility and ensure accountability.

We call upon the Ethiopian government, the African Union, the European Union, the United Nations, and the international community to act urgently to prevent further civilian suffering and to uphold international humanitarian law.

The lives of innocent civilians are not political weapons. Their blood must not become a tool for political gain.

Enough is enough.

No political victory is worth the life of an innocent child.
No political organization has the right to sacrifice civilians for its survival.
No government has the right to treat civilian lives as collateral damage.

ANU stands with the victims, their families, and all communities affected by violence. We demand justice, accountability, civilian protection, and an end to the use of force against innocent people, dialogue and the protection of civilian life over another catastrophic war.
