ኣብ በዓል ኣሸንዳን በዓለ ክብርቲ ማርያምን

 

ኣብዚ ቅዱስን ሓጎስ ዝመልኦን በዓል ኣሸንዳን በዓለ ክብርቲ ማርያምን፣  ኣግዓዚ ሃገራዊ ሕብረት (Agaezi National Union – ANU) ውዳበ ብሔረ ኣግዓዚ ውብኣ ንኹለን ኣብ ኢትዮጵያን ኤርትራን ዝርከባ ኣዴታት፣ ኣሓት፣ ኣዋልድን ኣያቶን፣ ከምኡውን ንኹሎም ኣመንቲ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ፣ ልባዊ ሰናይ ምንዮትን ፍቕርን በረኸትን መልእኽቲ  ነቕርብ::

እዚ በዓል ንኹለን ኣዴታትን ኣሓትን ኣዋልድን ሰላም፣ ሓይሊ፣ ተስፋን ሓጎስን ንምነ። ንስድራቤታትና ሰላም፣ ንመንእሰያትና ተስፋ፣ ንሕብረተሰብና ድማ ዕርቅን ሓድነትን ይሃብ።

ኣሸንዳ — ናይ እምነትን ባህልን ውርሻ

ኣሸንዳ ካብ ሙዚቃ፣ ዳንስ፣ ባህላዊ ክዳንን ሓጎስን ጥራይ ዝተሰርሐት በዓል ኣይኮነትን። ንዘመናት ኣብ መንጎ ኣዴታትን ኣዋልድን ዝተሓለወት እምነት፣ ክብሪ ደቂ ኣንስትዮ፣ ማሕበራዊ ሓድነት፣ ባህላዊ መንነትን ታሪኻዊ ዝኽርን እያ።

ኣሸንዳ ብዝያዳ ምስ ጾመ ፍልሰታን ክብሪ ቅድስቲ ማርያምን ዝተኣሳሰረት እያ። ብዙሓት ማሕበረሰባት ድማ ብጸሎትን ተሳትፎ ቤተክርስቲያንን ድሕሪኡ ብደርፊ፣ ባህላዊ ክዳን፣ ግጥሚ፣ ዳንስን ሓባራዊ ምትእኽኻብን ይዝክርዋ።

ኣብ ዝተፈላለዩ ከባቢታት እውን ብኣሸንዳ፣ ኣሸንድየ፣ ሻደይ፣ ሶለልን ማርያን ዝኣመሰሉ ስማት ትፍለጥ። እዚ ድማ ብዙሕነት ናይቲ ባህሊ እናርኣየ፣ ሓደ መንፈስ ናይ ሓባራዊ ውርሻ ይዕቅብ።

እዚ ምኽንያት እዩ እምበኣር ANU ኣሸንዳ ናይ ሓደ ፖለቲካዊ ውድብ፣ ክልል ወይ ዘመናዊ ፖለቲካዊ መንነት እንተይኮነት፣ ብማሕበረሰባት ንዘመናት ክትዕቀብ ዝጸንሐት ህያው ባህላዊ ውርሻ ክትከውን ዝኣምን።

ኣሸንዳ — መላእኽቲ ሓድነት ኣብ መንጎ ኢትዮጵያን ኤርትራን

ንውዳበ ብሔረ ኣግዓዚ ውብኣ/ANU፣ ኣሸንዳን በዓለ ማርያምን ኣብ መንጎ ህዝቢ ኢትዮጵያን ኤርትራን ዘሎ ዓሚቝ መንፈሳዊ፣ ባህላዊ፣ ታሪኻዊን ስድራዊን ርክብ ንምዝካር ዓቢይ ዕድል እዩ።

ዶባት ክቕየሩ ይኽእሉ፣ መንግስታት ክቕየሩ ይኽእሉ፣ ፖለቲካዊ ርክባት ክድከሙ ወይ ክጠናኸሩ ይኽእሉ። እንተኾነ ግን ኣብ መንጎ ህዝብና ዝጸንሐ ባህላዊ፣ ቋንቋዊ፣ ሃይማኖታዊ፣ ታሪኻዊን ስድራዊን ርክባት ብቐሊሉ ክድምሰሱ ኣይክእሉን።

እምነት ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ ድማ ንወለዶታት ዝኣክል ሓደ ዓቢይ ምንጪ ቀጻልነት ኮይኑ ጸኒሑ። ቤተክርስቲያናት፣ ገዳማት፣ ቅዱሳን፣ ጸሎት፣ ጾም፣ ቅዳሴ፣ መዝሙር፣ ግእዝ፣ ጥንታዊ መጻሕፍቲ፣ ስእለ ቅዱሳን፣ ግጥሚ፣ ወግዒ ሓደራን ልምድታት ስድራቤትን ካብቲ ሓባራዊ ውርሻና እዮም።

ክብርን ነጻነትን ደቂ ኣንስትዮ

ሓደ ካብ ዝዓበየ መልእኽቲ ኣሸንዳ ድማ ክብርን ድምጽን ደቂ ኣንስትዮ እዩ።

ኣብዚ በዓል ኣዋልድን ደቂ ኣንስትዮን ማእከል ናይ ማሕበራዊ ባህላዊ ህይወት ይኾና። ይደርፋ፣ ይግጥማ፣ ይድንሳ፣ ባህላዊ ክዳነን ይኽደና፣ ብሓባር ይእከባ፣ ድምጸን የስምዓ።

እዚ ድማ ኣሸንዳ ንደቂ ኣንስትዮ ናይ ርእሰን ድምጺ ክህልወን፣ ክኽበራ፣ ብነጻ ክገልጻን ኣብ ማሕበረሰብ ዓቢይ ቦታ ክህልወንን ዝሕግዝ ሓደ ባህላዊ መድረኽ እዩ።

ስለዚ ውዳበ ብሔረ ኣግዓዚ ውብኣ/ANU ክብሪ ኣሸንዳ ኣብ ሓደ መዓልቲ ጥራይ ክድረት የብሉን ይብል።

ክብሪ ደቂ ኣንስትዮ ኣብ ኩሉ መዓልቲ ክሕሎ ኣለዎ።

ኣብ ሕብረተሰብና ደቂ ኣንስትዮ ካብ፦

• ጎነጽን ምድሃልን፣

• ግዱድ መርዓ፣

• ኣድልዎ፣

• ጾታዊ ጎነጽ፣

• ምዕጻው ድምጸን፣

• ከምኡውን ካብ ፖለቲካዊ ምጥቃም ክላቀቓ ኣለወን።

ነጻነትን ክብርን ንዝኽሪ ኣሸንዳ ጥራይ ዘይኮነ፣ ቀጻሊ ማሕበራዊ ክብሪ ክኾን ኣለዎ።

ንኣዴታትናን ኣያታትናን ነኽብር

ውዳበ ብሔረ ኣግዓዚ ውብኣ/ANU ኣብዚ ኣጋጣሚ ነተን ንባህልና ንወለዶ ወለዶ ዝሓለዋ ኣዴታትን ኣያታትን ይዝክርን የኽብርን።

ንሳተን ቋንቋና፣ እምነትና፣ መዝሙራትና፣ ዛንታታትና፣ ጸሎታትና፣ ባህላዊ ክዳናትና፣ ታሪኽ ስድራቤትናን ባህላዊ ልምድታትናን ካብ ሓደ ወለዶ ናብ ካልእ ወለዶ ኣሰጋጊረን።

ብዙሓተን እዚ ዝገበራኦ ብዘይ ስልጣን፣ ብዘይ ተፈላጥነትን ብዘይ ብዙሕ ማሕበራዊ ዕድልን፣ ኣብ ጊዜ ድኽነት፣ ጎነጽ፣ ስደትን ጸገምን እየን።

ስለዚ ኣሸንዳ በዓለን እውን እያ።

ሓንቲ ጓል ባህላዊ ክዳን ክትክደን፣ ጸጉራ ክትጥምር፣ ባህላዊ መዝሙር ክትደርፍ ወይ ምስ መሓዙታ ክትወጽእ ከላ፣ ንሳ ጥራይ ኣብ በዓል ኣይትሳተፍን። ኣብ መንጎ ጓልን ኣደን፣ ኣደን ኣያን፣ እቲ ሎሚን እቶም ቀደም ዝነበሩ ወለዶታትንዝዘርጋሕ ሰንሰለት ባህላዊ ውርሻ ትቕጽል ኣላ።

ባህላዊ ውርሻና ንሓሉ

ውዳበ ብሔረ ኣግዓዚ ውብኣ/ANU ንህዝቢ ኢትዮጵያ፣ ኤርትራን ዲያስፖራን እዚ ውርሻ ክሕሎን ክመሓላለፍን ይጽውዕ።

ባህላዊ ክዳን፣ ጥልፊ፣ ጌጣጌጥ፣ ሙዚቃ፣ ዳንስ፣ ግጥሚ፣ ወግዒ፣ ታሪኽ ኣፍ፣ መጻሕፍቲ፣ ቤተክርስቲያናት፣ ገዳማት፣ ቋንቋታትን በዓላትን ናይ ዝኽርና መሰረት እዮም።

ባህላዊ ውርሻ ክንሕሉ ማለት ዝኽርና ክንሕሉ ማለት እዩ።

ንኣዋልድና ድማ ከምዚ ንበለን፦

ንስኺ ኣብ ዝኽሪ ዘለዎ ታሪኽ ኢኺ።
ድምጽኺ ኣገዳሲ እዩ።
ክብሪኺ ክትሕልው ኣለኪ።
ባህልኺ ኣገዳሲ እዩ።
እምነትኺ ክብሪ እዩ።
መጻኢኺ ድማ ናትኪ እዩ።

ንመንእሰያት ደቂ ኣንስትዮ ዝቐረበ መልእኽቲ

ንኹለን ኣብዚ ኣሸንዳ ትጽንብላ ዘለኽን መንእሰያት ኣዋልድን ደቂ ኣንስትዮን ውዳበ ብሔረ ኣግዓዚ ውብኣ/ANU ከምዚ ይብለክን፦

ብኽብሪ ኣኽብራ። ብትብዓት ተማሃራ። ብነጻ ተዛረባ። ብትብዓት ምርሓ። ክብርኽን ሓልዋ። ባህልኽን ዕቀባ።

ባህላዊ መንነትኽን ዕንቅፋት ኣይኮነን።

እምነትኽን ንነጻነትኽን ዕንቅፋት ኣይኮነን።

ጓል ኣንስተይቲ ምዃንክን ድማ ኣብ ሕብረተሰብ ዘለኪ ቦታ ክውሕድ ኣይግባእን።

ኣሸንዳ ንሕብረተሰብና ትምህርቲ፣ ምዕባለ ኢኮኖሚ፣ ኣብ ፖለቲካ ተሳትፎ፣ ድሕነት ካብ ጎነጽን ምሉእ ክብርን ዝተረጋገጸሉ መጻኢ ክንሃንጽ ክትክእ ኣለዋ።

መልእኽቲ ሓድነት

ኣብዚ ብዙሕ ጎነጽ፣ ስደት፣ ሓዘንን ምክፍፋልን ዝረኣናሉ ጊዜ፣ ውዳበ ብሔረ ኣግዓዚ ውብኣ/ANU ኣሸንዳ ካብ ፖለቲካ ንላዕሊ ዘሎ ሓደ ነገር ክትዝክረና እያ ዝብል፦

ዶባት ጥራይ ኣይኮነን ዝወረስናዮ። እምነት፣ ታሪኽ፣ ቋንቋ፣ ባህሊ፣ ዝኽርን ክብርታትን እውን ወሪስና ኢና።

ስለዚ ውዳበ ብሔረ ኣግዓዚ ውብኣ/ANU ንኹሎም ኢትዮጵያውያንን ኤርትራውያንን፣ ኣመንቲ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶን ኣብ ዲያስፖራ ዝነብሩ ማሕበረሰባትን፣ እዚ ኣጋጣሚ እዚ ሰላም እምበር ጽልኢ፣ ክብሪ እምበር ኣድልዎ፣ ምዕቃብ ባህሊ እምበር ምጥፋእ፣ ሓድነት እምበር ምክፍፋል ንምስፋን ክይንጥቀመሉ ይጽውዕ።

ኣሸንዳ ኣብ መንጎ ሕብረተሰባትና ዘሎ ማእሰር የጠናኽር።

በረኸትን ምሕረትን ክብርቲ ማርያም ኣብ ልዕሌና ይኹን።

ኣምላኽ ንኣዴታትና፣ ኣሓትና፣ ኣዋልድናን ኣያታትናን ይባርኽን ይሓልወንን።

ንዝሰኣኑ ስድራቤታት ጽንዓት ይሃብ።

ንህጻናትን ንድኹማትን ይሓልዎም።

ንህዝብና ድማ ናብ ሰላም፣ ዕርቂ፣ ፍቕርን ሓድነትን ይምርሓዮ።

እምነትናን ባህልናን ታሪኽናን ንዝመጽእ ወለዶ ብሰላም ከነሰጋግሮ ይርድኣና።

 ንፍትሕ ዝቃለሳ ዘለዋ ደቂ ኣንስትዮ ዝኽሪን ክብሪን

ኣብዚ ናይ ኣሸንዳ በዓል፣ ባህልናን እምነትናን እናኽበርና፣ ንፍትሒ፣ ሓቂን ሰብኣዊ ክብርን ብሰላማዊ መንገዲ ዝቃለሳ ዘለዋ ኣዴታትን ኣሓትን ማሕበር ደቂ ኣንስትዮ ኣግዓዚ ብፍሉይ ክብሪ ነመስግነን። ማሕበር ደቂ ኣንስትዮ ኣግዓዚ ዕላማኡ፡ ደቂ ኣንስትዮ ብትምህርቲ፣ ብመሪሕነት፣ ብፈጠራ፣ ብባህላዊ ሓለዋን ብማሕበራዊ ኣገልግሎትን ንምብርታዕ፣ ክብረተንን ግደአንን ኣብ ምህናጽ ሓደ ዝማዕበለ ሕብረተሰብ ንምድንፋዕ እዩ:: እቲ “ጸሊም ኣሸንዳ” ዝብል ዘመተ ድማ፣ ብግፍዒ ህይወተን ንዝሰኣና ደቂ ኣንስትዮ ንምዝካር፣ እቲ ዝተፈጸመ ግፍዒ ብሕጊ ክምርመር፣ ሓቂ ክወጽእን ፍትሒ ክሰፍንን ዝቐርብ ሰላማዊ ጻውዒት እዩ።

ብፍላይ ኣብ መቐለ ብግፍዒ ህይወታ ዝሰኣነት ዘውዱ ሓፍቱ ከምኡውን ብግፍዒ ዝተቐትላን ዝተጎድኣን ኩለን ደቂ ኣንስትዮ፣ ብኽብሪ ንዝክረን። ጸሊም ክዳን ምልባስ ሓዘን ጥራይ ዘይኮነ፣ “ሓቂ ይውጻእ፣ ፍትሒ ይስፈን፣ ህይወትን ክብርን ደቂ ኣንስትዮ ይከበር” ዝብል ሰላማዊ መልእኽቲ ማሕበር ደቂ ኣንስትዮ ኣግዓዚ እዩ።

ማሕበር ደቂ ኣንስትዮ ኣግዓዚ ንፍትሒ ብሰላማውን ሕጋውን መንገዲ ድምጸን ዘስምዓ ኣዴታትን ኣሓትን ድምጸን ክስማዕ፣ ጻዕረን ድማ ብሰላማዊ መንገዲ ክቕጽል ንድግፍ።

ኣሸንዳ በዓል ሓጎስ ጥራይ ዘይኮነት፣ ድምጺ፣ ክብሪ፣ ናጽነትን ጻውዒት ፍትሕን ደቂ ኣንስትዮ ዝስማዓሉ በዓል ትኹን። 

 እንኳዕ ንኣሸንዳን በዓለ ማርያምን ብሰላም ኣብጽሐክን! 

መልካም ኣሸንዳ! መልካም በዓለ ማርያም!

ክብርቲ ማርያም ንኹለን ደቂ ኣንስትዮ፣ ንኹሎም ስድራቤታትን ሕብረተሰባትናን ኣብ ኢትዮጵያ፣ ኤርትራን ኣብ መላእ ዓለምን ትባርኽ።

ከኣግዓዚ  ብሔራዊ ሕብረት (ANU) የቀረበ የመልካም ምኞት መልዕክት 

ለአሸንዳ እና ለክብርት ማርያም በዓል

በዚህ የደስታ፣ የእምነት እና የባህል በዓል፣ ኣግዓዚ ብሔራዊ ሕብረት (Agaezi National Union – ANU) በኢትዮጵያ፣ በኤርትራ እና በዓለም ዙሪያ ለምትኖሩ እናቶች፣ እህቶች፣ ሴቶችና ልጃገረዶች፣ እንዲሁም ለሁሉም የኢትዮጵያና የኤርትራ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ አማኞች ልባዊ የሰላም፣ የፍቅር፣ የበረከትና የደስታ ምኞቱን ያቀርባል።

አሸንዳ የደስታ በዓል ብቻ አይደለችም። ለትውልድ በሴቶችና በእናቶች ተጠብቃ የመጣች የእምነት፣ የሴቶች ክብር፣ የማኅበረሰብ አንድነት፣ የባህል ማንነትና የታሪክ ውርስ ናት። ከጾመ ፍልሰታ እና ከእመቤታችን ቅድስት ማርያም ክብር ጋር የተያያዘችው ይህች በዓል፣ በተለያዩ አካባቢዎች በጸሎት፣ በዝማሬ፣ በባህላዊ አልባሳት፣ በግጥም፣ በዳንስና በማኅበራዊ ስብሰባ ትከበራለች። በተለያዩ ማኅበረሰቦች አሸንዳ፣ አሸንድዬ፣ ሻደይ፣ ሶለል እና ማርያ በሚሉ ስያሜዎች መጠራቷም የባህላችንን ልዩነትና ሀብት ያሳያል።

 አሸንዳ — የጋራ ባህላዊ ውርሳችን

ለኣግዓዚ ብሔራዊ ሕብረት (ANU) አሸንዳ ከአንድ ክልል፣ ከአንድ የፖለቲካ ቡድን ወይም ከአንድ ዘመናዊ ማንነት በላይ የሆነች ሕያው ባህላዊ ውርስ ናት።

በኢትዮጵያና በኤርትራ ሕዝቦች መካከል ለትውልድ የተላለፉት እምነት፣ ታሪክ፣ ቋንቋ፣ ሥነ-ጽሑፍ፣ የግእዝ ቅርስ፣ ቤተክርስቲያናትና ገዳማት፣ ዝማሬና ጸሎት፣ ባህላዊ አልባሳት፣ ግጥም፣ የአፍ ታሪክና የማኅበረሰብ ልማዶች የጋራ የባህል ውርሳችን ናቸው።

የፖለቲካ ድንበሮች ሊለዋወጡ ይችላሉ፤ መንግሥታትም ሊቀየሩ ይችላሉ። ነገር ግን የሕዝብ ታሪክ፣ እምነት፣ ባህልና የጋራ ውርስ በቀላሉ ሊደመሰስ አይችልም።

አሸንዳም ይህንን የጋራ ትስስር የምናስታውስበት ውብ አጋጣሚ ናት።

 የሴቶች ክብር፣ ነፃነትና ክብደት

ከአሸንዳ ታላላቅ መልዕክቶች አንዱ የሴቶችን ክብርና ድምፅ ማሳደግ ነው። በዚህ በዓል ሴቶችና ልጃገረዶች የባህላዊ ሕይወት ማዕከል ይሆናሉ። ይዘምራሉ፣ ይገጥማሉ፣ ይደንሳሉ፣ ባህላዊ ልብሳቸውን ይለብሳሉ፣ አብረው ይሰበሰባሉ እና ድምፃቸውን በነፃነት ያሰማሉ።

ስለዚህ አሸንዳ ለሴቶች የራሳቸው ድምፅ እንዲኖራቸው፣ እንዲከበሩ፣ ራሳቸውን በነፃነት እንዲገልጹና በማኅበረሰብ ውስጥ ተገቢውን ሚና እንዲወስዱ የሚያበረታታ ባህላዊ መድረክ ናት።

የሴቶች ክብር ግን በአንድ የበዓል ቀን ብቻ ሊገደብ አይገባም።

ኣግዓዚ ብሔራዊ ሕብረት (ANU) ሴቶች ከጥቃት፣ ከግዳጅ ጋብቻ፣ ከመድልዎ፣ ከጾታዊ ጥቃትና ከማንኛውም የክብር ጥሰት እንዲጠበቁ፣ በትምህርት፣ በኢኮኖሚ፣ በማኅበራዊ እና በሕዝባዊ ሕይወት ሙሉ ተሳትፎ እንዲኖራቸው ያምናል።

የሴቶች ነፃነትና ክብር የአሸንዳ መንፈስ በየዕለቱ መኖር ያለበት እሴት ነው።

 ለእናቶቻችንና ለአያቶቻችን ክብር

ባህላችንን ከአንድ ትውልድ ወደ ሌላ ትውልድ ላስተላለፉት እናቶቻችንና አያቶቻችን ልዩ ክብር ይገባቸዋል። ቋንቋችንን፣ እምነታችንን፣ ዝማሬዎቻችንን፣ ታሪኮቻችንን፣ ጸሎቶቻችንን፣ ባህላዊ ልብሶቻችንንና የቤተሰብ ትውፊቶቻችንን ከትውልድ ወደ ትውልድ ያስተላለፉት እነርሱ ናቸው።

ስለዚህ አሸንዳ የእነርሱም በዓል ናት።

ዛሬ አንዲት ልጃገረድ ባህላዊ ልብሷን ለብሳ፣ ጸጉሯን አስውባ፣ ባህላዊ ዝማሬ ዘምራ ከጓደኞቿ ጋር ስትደሰት፣ የዛሬን ደስታ ብቻ አትገልጽም፤ በእሷና በእናቷ፣ በእናቷና በአያቷ፣ በዛሬውና በቀድሞው ትውልድ መካከል ያለውን የውርስ ሰንሰለት ትቀጥላለች።

 ለኢትዮጵያና ለኤርትራ የአንድነት መልዕክት

በዛሬው ዘመን ብዙ መከፋፈል፣ ግጭት፣ ስደትና ሀዘን ባለበት ጊዜ፣ አሸንዳ ከፖለቲካ በላይ ያለውን የሕዝባችንን ግንኙነት ታስታውሰናለች።

ድንበሮች ሊለያዩን ይችላሉ፤ የጋራ ታሪካችንና ባህላችን ግን ሊለዩን አይገባም።

እምነታችን፣ ቋንቋችን፣ ታሪካችን፣ ባህላችን፣ ቅርሳችንና የማኅበረሰብ እሴቶቻችን ለቀጣዩ ትውልድ በሰላም ሊተላለፉ ይገባል።

አሸንዳም በኢትዮጵያና በኤርትራ መካከል ያለውን ባህላዊ፣ መንፈሳዊ፣ ታሪካዊና ሰብዓዊ ትስስር የምናከብርበት ዕድል ናት።

ለወጣት ሴቶች የANU መልዕክት

ለሁላችሁም ወጣት ሴቶችና ልጃገረዶች እንላለን፦

በክብር ኑሩ። በድፍረት ተማሩ። ድምፃችሁን በነፃነት አሰሙ። በድፍረት ምሩ። ማንነታችሁንና ባህላችሁን ጠብቁ። መብታችሁን እወቁ። የወደፊቱ የእናንተ ነው።

ባህላዊ ማንነታችሁ የእድገት እንቅፋት አይደለም።

እምነታችሁም ለነፃነታችሁ እንቅፋት አይደለም።

ሴት መሆናችሁም በማኅበረሰብ ውስጥ ያላችሁን ሚና የሚቀንስ ምክንያት አይደለም።

 ባህላዊ ውርሳችንን እንጠብቅ

ANU ሁላችንም የአሸንዳን ባህላዊ ውርስ እንድንጠብቅና ለቀጣዩ ትውልድ እንድናስተላልፍ ጥሪ ያቀርባል።

ለፍትሕ የሚታገሉ ሴቶች ክብር

በዚህ የአሸንዳ በዓል፣ ባህላችንንና እምነታችንን በማክበር ለፍትሕ፣ ለእውነትና ለሰብዓዊ ክብር የሚታገሉትን የአግዓዚ ሴቶች ማህበር  በልዩ ክብር እናመሰግናለን። የአግዓዚ ሴቶች ማህበር ዋና ዓላማ ሴቶችን በትምህርት፣ በአመራር፣ በፈጠራ፣ በባህል ጥበቃ እና በማህበራዊ አገልግሎት ማብቃት፤ ክብራቸውን፣ ተሳትፎአቸውን እና ሚናቸውን በማጠናከር የተሻለ ማህበረሰብና ትውልድ መገንባት ነው።  የ**“ጥቁር አሸንዳ”** ዘመቻን በሰላማዊ መንገድ ማካሄድ የተገደሉ ሴቶችን ለማስታወስ፣ የተፈጸመባቸው ግፍ በሕግ እንዲመረመር፣ እውነት እንዲገለጥና ፍትሕ እንዲሰፍን የሚቀርብ የሰላማዊ ምልክት ነው። በተለይም በመቐለ የተገደለችውን ዘውዱ ሓፍቱን ጨምሮ በግፍ ሕይወታቸውን ያጡ ሴቶችን በክብር እናስታውሳለን። ጥቁር ልብስ የሐዘን ብቻ ሳይሆን “እውነት ይገለጥ፣ ፍትሕ ይሰፍን፣ የሴቶች ሕይወትና ክብር ይከበር” የሚል የሰላማዊ ጥሪ ምልክት ይሁን። ለፍትሕ የሚቆሙ እናቶችና እህቶቻችን ድምፃቸው እንዲሰማ እና ትግላቸውም በሰላማዊና በሕጋዊ መንገድ እንዲቀጥል እናበረታታለን።

አሸንዳ የደስታ በዓል ብቻ ሳትሆን፣ የሴቶች ድምፅ፣ ክብር፣ ነፃነትና የፍትሕ ጥሪ የሚሰማበት በዓል ትሁን።

 እንኳን ለአሸንዳና ለክብርት ማርያም በዓል በሰላም አደረሳችሁ!

A Goodwill Message from the Agaezi National Union (ANU) 

On Ashenda and the Feast of Kidist Mariam

On this blessed and joyful occasion of Ashenda and the Feast of Kidist Mariam, the Agaezi National Union (ANU)extends its deepest goodwill, respect, love, and blessings to all women and girls of Ethiopia and Eritrea, and to all Orthodox Tewahedo believers at home and throughout the world.

May this beautiful celebration bring peace to our families, strength to our women, hope to our young people, and reconciliation and unity to our communities.

A celebration rooted in faith and heritage

Ashenda is much more than a festival of music, dress, dance, and celebration. For generations, it has been a powerful expression of faith, womanhood, community, cultural memory, and social dignity.

The celebration is closely connected with Filseta, the period of fasting and devotion dedicated to the Virgin Mary in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo tradition. In many communities, the celebration begins with prayer and participation in church before women and girls take their celebration into their communities through song, dance, poetry, traditional dress, and fellowship. 

At the same time, Ashenda carries cultural traditions that reach beyond the strictly religious ceremony. Its songs, poetry, clothing, hairstyles, jewelry, musical traditions, dances, and the use of the Ashenda grass represent an important inheritance transmitted from mothers and grandmothers to daughters and from one generation to the next. 

The festival is celebrated under different names in different communities—including Ashenda, Ashendye, Shadey, Solel and Maria—demonstrating the diversity of local traditions while preserving a common cultural spirit. 

For this reason, ANU believes that Ashenda should be regarded not as the property of one political organization, region, or contemporary political identity, but as part of the living cultural heritage of the communities that have preserved and celebrated it.

A bridge between Ethiopia and Eritrea

For ANU, Ashenda and the celebration of Kidist Mariam also provide an opportunity to remember the profound cultural and spiritual connections linking the peoples of Ethiopia and Eritrea.

Our borders may have changed, governments may change, and political relationships may rise and fall, but the cultural, linguistic, religious, historical, and familial connections between our peoples cannot simply be erased.

The Orthodox Tewahedo tradition has been an extraordinary source of continuity for generations. Churches, monasteries, saints’ traditions, religious manuscripts, sacred music, Ge’ez, iconography, poetry, oral traditions, pilgrimage, fasting, prayer, and family customs form part of a heritage shared across communities on both sides of today’s political boundary.

Ashenda reminds us that culture can connect people even when politics divides them.

A celebration of women’s dignity and freedom

Perhaps one of Ashenda’s most powerful values is the place it gives to women and girls.

During the celebration, women and girls occupy the center of public cultural life. They sing. They dance. They compose and perform poetry. They gather together. They express themselves. They celebrate their beauty and identity. They receive recognition and gifts from their communities.

Research on Ashenda has specifically identified its role in providing women and girls with freedom of expression, empowerment, social recognition, and a space to challenge traditional restrictions. 

This is why ANU believes that the meaning of Ashenda should not be reduced to clothing, entertainment, or ceremony.

It is also a reminder that women deserve dignity, respect, voice, safety, education, opportunity, and freedom throughout the entire year—not only during a festival.

The freedom celebrated during Ashenda should therefore inspire our communities to reject:

• violence against women and girls;
• forced marriage and harmful traditional practices;
• discrimination;
• political exploitation of women;
• sexual violence;
• the silencing of women’s voices;
• and the exclusion of women from decisions affecting their families and communities.

The dignity celebrated during Ashenda must become a permanent social value.

Honoring our mothers and grandmothers

ANU also uses this occasion to honor the generations of women who preserved our traditions through extraordinary hardship.

Our mothers and grandmothers carried our languages, faith, songs, stories, prayers, clothing traditions, family histories, and cultural practices from one generation to another.

Many of them did so without recognition, without political power, and often in circumstances of poverty, conflict, displacement, and insecurity.

Ashenda is therefore also their celebration.

When a young girl puts on her traditional dress, braids her hair, sings an ancestral song, or walks with her friends through her community, she is not merely participating in entertainment. She is participating in a chain of cultural transmission connecting daughter to mother, mother to grandmother, and the present generation to generations long gone.

Protecting cultural heritage

ANU calls upon communities in Ethiopia, Eritrea, and the diaspora to preserve the authenticity and richness of these traditions.

Cultural heritage should not become a casualty of political conflict.

Our traditional clothing, embroidery, jewelry, music, dance, poetry, oral history, religious practices, manuscripts, churches, monasteries, languages, and festivals deserve protection and transmission to future generations.

The Ethiopian Girls Festival has been recognized within Ethiopia’s intangible cultural heritage framework, including its various regional names and its association with women’s liberty and cultural expression. 

Preserving Ashenda therefore means preserving memory.

It means telling our daughters:

You belong to a history.
You have a voice.
Your dignity matters.
Your culture matters.
Your faith matters.
Your future matters.

A message to our young women

To the young women and girls celebrating Ashenda today, ANU says:

Celebrate proudly. Study boldly. Speak freely. Lead courageously. Protect your dignity. Preserve your heritage.

Your identity is not a limitation.

Your cultural heritage is not a burden.

Your faith is not an obstacle to your freedom.

And your womanhood is not something that should ever diminish your place in society.

Rather, the values represented by Ashenda should inspire a society in which women are educated, economically empowered, politically represented, protected from violence, respected in their communities, and free to determine their own future.

A message of unity

At a time when our peoples have experienced too much conflict, displacement, loss, and division, ANU believes that celebrations such as Ashenda can remind us of something greater than politics:

We have inherited much more than borders. We have inherited a civilization, a faith, languages, traditions, memories, and values that connect generations.

We therefore call upon Ethiopians and Eritreans, Orthodox Tewahedo believers, and communities throughout the diaspora to use this occasion to promote peace rather than hatred, dignity rather than discrimination, cultural preservation rather than destruction, and solidarity rather than division.

May the celebration of Ashenda strengthen the bonds between our communities.

May the intercession and example of Kidist Mariam inspire compassion, courage, humility, and peace.

May God protect our mothers, sisters, daughters and grandmothers.

May He comfort families who have lost loved ones.

May He protect children and vulnerable people.

And may He guide our peoples toward a future in which women can live with dignity, families can live in peace, and our cultural and spiritual heritage can be passed safely to future generations.

 Honoring Women Who Stand for Justice

On this Ashenda celebration, while honoring our faith and cultural heritage, the Agaezi National Union (ANU) pays special tribute to the mothers, sisters, and daughters who continue to stand peacefully for justice, truth, dignity, and human rights. We deeply appreciate and thank the Agaezi Women Association (AWA) for this public campaign initiative and our support is in full terms. The Main Goal of AWA is to empower women through education, leadership, innovation, cultural preservation, economic opportunity, and community service while promoting dignity, equality, peace, and the advancement of society. 

The “Black Ashenda” campaign is a powerful and peaceful expression of mourning and a call for justice. Wearing black is a way to remember women whose lives have been lost and to demand that alleged abuses and killings be properly investigated, that the truth be established, and that justice be served.

We especially remember Zewdu Haftu of Mekelle, as well as all women who have lost their lives or suffered violence and injustice. Their memories must not be forgotten. Their families deserve truth, accountability, and justice.

Black clothing during Ashenda should therefore symbolize more than grief. It can peacefully express a collective message:

Let the truth be known. Let justice prevail. Let the lives and dignity of women be protected and respected.

ANU recognizes and appreciates the courage of the women who raise their voices for justice through peaceful and lawful means. Their determination reminds us that Ashenda is not only a celebration of joy and cultural heritage—it can also be a celebration of women’s dignity, freedom, courage, and voice.

May Ashenda be a time when the voices of women are heard, their dignity is respected, their rights are protected, and the call for justice is never forgotten.
