The paternal message of condolence delivered by His Holiness reads as follows:
Message from His Holiness the Patriarch
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, One God. Amen.
“They have given the dead bodies of Your servants to the birds of the heavens for food, and the flesh of Your saints to the beasts of the earth.”
(Psalm 79:2)
It is with a deeply broken heart that we learned of the horrific attacks perpetrated against our spiritual children and against the Holy Church in the Arsi Diocese, specifically in the districts of Asako, Shirka, Honkolo, Wabe, and Munessa.
On this tragic day, religious freedom was violated, the centuries-old St. Gabriel Church of Tolata was burned down, and the churches of Kara Kufte and Medhane Alem were looted. The brutal killing of many faithful believers and the displacement of hundreds of our fellow citizens from their homes is an incident that has caused profound sorrow to our Church.
The Church, which has long been a repository of peace, love, and history, has traditionally been a source of comfort for believers suffering from worldly hardships. Yet at this moment, the Church itself finds itself under severe trial. Moreover, the recurring injustice and violence witnessed in the land of Arsi have raised within all of us a painful and sorrowful question: “How long will this continue?”
Therefore, as this suffering continues not only unabated but increasingly widespread, we strongly remind the security institutions and officials at every level—upon whom rests the responsibility of safeguarding citizens and maintaining peace—that history will judge you primarily by the extent to which you protected the lives and security of the people during your tenure in office. We urge you, in the name of our Church, to halt this chain of violence and bring the perpetrators to justice so that you may not stand accountable before history.
We also call upon believers throughout the country and all Ethiopians to stand together in a spirit of brotherhood, support those who have been displaced, and stand alongside our Church through prayer and solidarity.
Finally, we reaffirm that our Church will always stand for peace, forgiveness, and the dignity of every human being. We pray that our God, in His mercy, will help us endure this time of sorrow; that He will receive the souls of those who have died into His Kingdom; and that He will comfort and strengthen those who have suffered and been affected by these tragic events.
With this, we convey our paternal message of condolence in the name of God.
May Almighty God bless Ethiopia and all her peoples!

ቅዱስነታቸው ያስተላለፉት አባታዊ የኀዘን መልእክት እንደሚከተለው ነው፦
መልእክተ ብፁዕ ወቅዱስ ፓትርያርክ
በስመ አብ ወወልድ ወመንፈስ ቅዱስ አሐዱ አምላክ አሜን፡፡
‹‹ወረሰዩ አብድንቲሆሙ ለአግብርቲከ መብልዐ ለአዕዋፈ ሰማይ፣ ወሥጋሆሙኒ ለጻድቃኒከ ለአራዊተ ገዳም፦ የአገልጋዮችህንም በድኖች ለሰማይ ወፎች መብል አደረጉ፥ የቅዱሳንህንም ሥጋ ለምድር አራዊት።››
(መዝሙረ ዳዊት ፸፰፥፪)
በአርሲ ሀገረ ስብከት በአሰኮ፣ በሽርካ፣ በሆንቆሎ፣ በዋቤ እና በሙኔሳ ወረዳዎች በመንፈስ ቅዱስ ልጆቻችንና በቅድስት ቤተ ክርስቲያን ላይ ስለደረሰው አሰቃቂ ጥቃት የሰማነው በተሰበረ ልብ ነው።
የእምነት ነፃነት ተደፍሮ መቶ ዓመታት ያስቆጠረው የጠላታ ቅዱስ ገብርኤል ቤተ ክርስቲያን በተቃጠለበት፣ እንዲሁም የካራ ኩፍቴና መድኃኔ ዓለም ቤተ ክርስቲያን በተዘረፈበት በዚህ ክፉ ቀን፤ በርካታ ምእመናን በግፍ መሰዋታቸውና በመቶዎች የሚቆጠሩ ወገኖቻችን ከቀዬአቸው መፈናቀላቸው ቤተ ክርስቲያናችንን በእጅጉ ያሳዘነ ክስተት ነው።
የሰላም፣ የፍቅርና የታሪክ ማህደር የሆነችው ቤተ ክርስቲያን በምድራዊ መከራ ውስጥ ያሉትን ምእመናን በምታጽናናበት በዚህ ወቅት ራሷ በፈተና ውስጥ ሆና ከመቸገሯም በላይ በአርሲ ምድር በተደጋጋሚ የሚስተዋለው በደልና ግፍ በሁላችንም ልቡና ውስጥ “እስከ መቼ?” የሚል የቁጭት እና የኀዘን ጥያቄን ፈጥሯል።
በመሆኑም ይህ መከራ እያበቃ ሳይሆን እየሰፋ በመምጣቱ የዜጎችን ደኅንነት የመጠበቅና ሰላምን የማስፈን አደራ የተጣለባችሁ የጸጥታ አካላትና በየመዋቅሩ ያላችሁ ሓላፊዎች ከምንም በላይ ታሪክ የሚጠይቃችሁ በሥልጣን ዘመናችሁ ለዜጎች ደኅንነት በምትከፍሉት ዋጋ ነውና ይህንን የጥቃት ሰንሰለት በማስቆምና ወንጀለኞችን ለሕግ በማቅረብ ከታሪክ ባለዕዳነት ትድኑ ዘንድ በቤተ ክርስቲያናችን ስም አበክረን እናሳስባለን።
በየአካባቢው የምትገኙ ምእመናንና መላው ኢትዮጵያውያንም በወንድማማችነት መንፈስ ተጋግዛችሁ፣ የተፈናቀሉ ወገኖችን በመደገፍና በጸሎት ከቤተክርስቲያናችን ጎን እንድትሆኑ ጥሪያችንን እናቀርባለን።
በመጨረሻም ቤተ ክርስቲያናችን ለሰላም፣ ለይቅርታና ለሰው ልጆች ክብር ሁል ጊዜ የምትቆም መሆኑን በመግለጽ ይህንን የኀዘን ሰዓት አምላካችን በምሕረቱ ያሳልፍልን፣ የሞቱትን ነፍሶቻቸውን በመንግሥቱ ይቀበልልን፣ የተጎዱትንም በቸርነቱ ያጽናናልን በማለት አባታዊ የኀዘን መልእክታችንን በእግዚአብሔር ስም እናስተላልፋለን።
እግዚአብሔር አምላክ ኢትዮጵያንና ሕዝቦችዋን ይባርክ!!
